2010 Employment Opportunities
Office Assistant (Part-time, some Saturdays):
Main responsibility to provide administrative support to ensure that museum operations are maintained in an effective, up to date, and accurate manner.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have excellent computer skills and be able to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, etc.
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator an asset
- Past administrative experience
- Post secondary education preferred
- Excellent comprehension of oral and written English
- Knowledge of the local area an asset
2 Summer Students (Museum assistants):
Applications must be in by April 9th, 2010.
Students will be responsible for tasks such as:
- Assisting with floor inspections
- Opening and closing procedures
- Updating visitor statistics
- Assisting with booking and leading school and public tours
- Acceptance of artefact donations and the corresponding paperwork
- Planning and detailing new exhibits and displays
- Researching
- Designing
- Mounting several new panels
- Completing inventory of three satellite exhibits
Qualifications:
- All candidates are required to have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word and research skills in online databases and Internet.
- Any experience in Adobe Photo Shop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, and Excel are an asset.
- A computer skills assessment will follow the interview conducted by the museum administrator.
